The European Pillar of Social Rights guarantees the fundamental social right to safe and healthy working conditions in Europe. Built upon 20 key principles, the EU Pillar aims to deliver new and more effective rights for citizens, including fair working conditions, equal opportunities and access to the labour market. The protection of all workers through their entire working lives is particularly important within the context of the EU Pillar, as it states that ‘Workers have the right to a working environment adapted to their professional needs and which enables them to prolong their participation in the labour market.’
