April 28 is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The theme this year is “optimise the collection and use of occupational safety and health (OSH) data”[1].

Reliable, high quality data is essential at both the workplace and policy levels to ensure that the correct decisions are made to ensure the ongoing protection of workers.

Health and life at work is a basic human right. “Everyone has the right to life to work… to just and favourable conditions of work… Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and wellbeing of himself and of his family”[1].

Tri agencije - Evropska agencija za varnost in zdravje pri delu (EU-OSHA), Urad Evropske unije za intelektualno lastnino (EUIPO)  in Prevajalski center za organe Evropske unije (CdT) - so 30. marca 2017 prejele Priznanje evropskega varuha človekovih pravic za dobro upravljanje v kategoriji Odličnost pri izvajanju storitev, namenjenih državljanom/potrošnikom za skupni inovativni projekt za lažje upravljanje prevajanja večjezičnih spletišč.

On 1-2 December 2015, EU-OSHA had the pleasure of organising a seminar in Bilbao with representatives from the five countries in the Eastern Partnership with which we have collaborated over the course of our European Neighbourhood Policy Project - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. All of these countries have actively participated in the work of the Agency within the framework of the EU’s Neighbourhood Policy.

In partnership with the International Labour Organisation, the Moroccan Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs and the Moroccan Institute of Working Life (INCVT), EU-OSHA organised a conference in Casablanca bringing together representatives from European and international OSH institutes and stakeholders in Morocco. The conference was organised as part of EU-OSHA’s collaboration with Morocco under its European Neighbourhood Policy project, supported by the European Commission.

International Conference in Lviv, Ukraine “Industrial safety. The best practices – 2015”

As part of EU-OSHA’s collaboration with Ukraine under its European Neighbourhood Policy project, we were invited to participate in the 3rd International Conference "Industrial safety: Best Practices - 2015” held in Lviv on 6-8 October 2015 and hosted by the Industrial Safety Magazine and supported by the State Labour Service of Ukraine.

Palestinian National OSH Committee comes to Bilbao

On 7 September 2015, a tripartite delegation from the Palestinian National OSH Committee visited Bilbao as part of EU-OSHA’s ENP project. The study visit was supported by the European Commission under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI). The delegation consisted of representatives from the Palestinian Ministry of Labour and also social partners from the workers and employers side.

European Neighbourhood Policy in Georgia

In July 2015, EU-OSHA was invited to Georgia to participate in a training session for new pilot monitors as part of a project organised by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Affairs with the support of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). EU-OSHA’s attendance at this event was possible with the support of the European Commission as part of the European Neighbourhood Policy.

North Africa Seminar April 2015

On 21 and 22 April 2015, EU-OSHA hosted a seminar in Bilbao with representatives from the EU, the ILO and North Africa. The seminar was organised with the support of the European Commission under the auspices of the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP).

EU-OSHA’s ENP project has provided an opportunity to extend our network into countries outside the EU. In implementing this project we have had the opportunity to meet with our partners in Morocco and Tunisia and this seminar was an opportunity to further develop our cooperation with the region.
