Netherlands – Taking action to manage physical strain
Across both the Netherlands and, more widely, Europe, a huge number of workers are affected by work-related physical strain. Poor posture, repetitive movements and moving heavy loads all cause physical strain and can result in a wide variety of musculoskeletal disorders. However, by taking steps to manage strain, employers can improve the safety and health of their workforce.
To provide insight into the issue of physical strain, the Focal Point in the Netherlands is organising a hybrid event, taking place both physically and digitally, on 28 October. The event formally kicks off both the Dutch and the European-level campaigns on the topic and explains the significance and urgency of tacking physical strain. Speakers highlight bad practice examples to provide clarity on how to avoid physical strain at work, as well as discussing useful, practical advice on improving the ergonomics of a working environment. The event also demonstrates how eliminating physical strain from the workplace is an easy and simple process.
Participants are given all the tools and information they need to implement best practice in their own workplaces. The event will also provide participants with more information on the Good Practices Competition and online test on physical strain.
