Euromaintenance 4.0 brings together a host of European and worldwide industry experts to discuss maintenance, reliability and condition monitoring. Among the more than 20 workshops taking place, one focuses on the management of dangerous substances during maintenance operations.
The 4-day conference, an initiative of official campaign partner EFNMS - European Federation of National Maintenance Societies, features over 106 presentations and over 50 cases are presented by asset owners. The focus is on disruptive technologies, as well as the essential basics and best practices in the field of maintenance, reliability, condition monitoring and asset management.
A workshop on day 1 on ‘How to manage dangerous substances during maintenance operations’ features a presentation by Lothar Lieck, an expert on dangerous substances from EU-OSHA. He presents the Healthy Workplaces Manage Dangerous Substances campaign, explaining the approach, activities, structure and the key messages of the campaign. Lothar Lieck also highlights the importance of campaign supporters who are essential in promoting a culture of risk prevention throughout Europe.
The presentation looks at how campaign tools and resources, such as the interactive e-tool, can assist companies in managing dangerous substances during maintenance operations, and gives an overview of real-life case studies that illustrate for example how to ensure safety through effective maintenance at a pesticide manufacturing plant. Lothar also presents the Good Practice Awards which can serve as a great source of motivation when working towards improving workplace safety and health.
