Artificial intelligence for worker management: mapping definitions, uses and implications

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are disrupting the workplace. This policy brief explores this disruption and its potential effects on workers.

It defines AI-based worker management (AIWM), presents an overview on how AIWM is implemented and by whom, and explains the risks and opportunities for workers’ safety and health when using these systems.

This brief presents findings from a EU-OSHA research on AIWM and its implications for OSH that is based on a literature review, in-depth interviews with experts, consultations with national Focal Points and an analysis of the European Survey of Enterprises on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER-3) data.
