The European Commission steers a high-level conference on the world of work
Digitalisation and technological developments, entering the world of work at a fast pace, have brought changes in the European labour market. A conference in Brussels on 9 April, hosted by the President Jean-Claude Juncker together with Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis and Commissioner Marianne Thyssen, aims to find a common vision of the European Union and its Member States on how to best benefit from new work-related opportunities. Topics such as fair transformation, upward convergence, global responsibility, empowering people, protection and investment and managing change, are the focus of two rounds of parallel sessions.
Following the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights, participants, , including social partners and civil society, look for solutions on how to establish a common framework to ensure equal employment conditions. The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work is also participating and displaying an information stand with material on new and emerging risks to occupational safety and health.
