Description

An upcoming seminar by our focal point in the country, Department of Labour Inspection, Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance will strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of labour inspectors in key areas of workplace safety and accident prevention.

An analysis of the latest workplace accident statistics and ways of reporting will be featured during the session. This information will provide the attending inspectors with a clearer understanding of current trends, high-risk sectors and common causes of accidents.

Speakers will also focus on legislative updates, with emphasis on sectors that handle hazardous materials and processes such as:

  • Petroleum products: recent amendments concerning the safe handling, transportation and storage of these substances.
  • Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG): updated safety protocols in relation to LPG, widely used in both industrial and domestic settings.
  • SEVESO regulation: amendments in this directive, which governs the control of major accident hazards involving dangerous substances. The discussion will focus on ensuring compliance with stricter safety standards and the role of inspections in mitigating the risks of industrial disasters.
  • Ergonomics and prolonged sitting: new legislation related to the design and use of ergonomic seating in workplaces.

There will be also a presentation of case studies based on real workplace accidents. These case studies will serve as learning tools, illustrating the causes, consequences and investigations following each incident. Inspectors will have the opportunity to discuss the details of these accidents, reviewing investigation reports, examining root causes and exploring how the implementation of proper safety measures could have prevented them.

Following the presentations, participants will engage in open discussions to analyse the findings of these case studies and any other key points from the seminar.
