Good Practice Award 2018-19: Beauty salon in Spain eliminates hazardous substances

Source: Peluquería Elvira

The Spanish beauty salon, Peluquería Elvira, won a Good Practice Award 2018-19 for substituting synthetic and harmful chemicals with safer plant-based alternatives. These substitutes are produced in Europe with phytosanitary certificates, to ensure that mixtures do not contain any toxic substances.

The company also used a self-assessment instrument and employed an external occupational health and safety service to perform a comprehensive occupational risk assessment.

As a result, synthetic dyes were reduced by 90-95%. The healthy hair salon revolutionary project has been implemented by other salons and it is easily applicable to other small enterprises in the hairdressing sector.
