Health, Safety and Your Wellbeing Conference

The theme of this year’s conference is Health, Safety and Your Wellbeing. In light of the current uncertainty surrounding Brexit, “Current Issues and Future Challenges - A View From the Troika” promises to be an unmissable panel discussion featuring Keith Morrison, CEO, Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland; Martin O’Halloran, CEO, Health and Safety Authority and Dr. David Snowball, Director of Regulation, Health and Safety Executive UK. This panel discussion will be facilitated by Herbert Mulligan, Editor, Health and Safety Review
Representatives from three charitable organisations - Diabetes Ireland, Epilepsy Ireland and Meningitis Research Foundation - will speak on “Embracing Health Challenges in the Workplace”. This conference session aims to promote awareness of these conditions, for those affected, their co-workers and for supervisors and managers who may wish to learn more about diabetes, epilepsy and meningitis.
Biddy O’Neill, National Project Lead, Health and Wellbeing Programme, Department of Health, will speak on “Developing a Health Workplace Framework”; Angela Coholan, Director & Lead Occupational Psychologist, Psychologic Edge International Ltd. will present a paper on "A Safe State of Mind - A Psychological Perspective on Safety and Wellbeing”; and Willie Ryan, SHEQ Director, Actavo Networks & In-Home Division, will discuss “Distracted Driving”.
The Confederate Secretary for the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), Esther Lynch, will speak about “Super Safety Reps and the Future of Work” and Chris Packham, Dermatological Engineer, EnviroDerm Services UK, will demystify some of the myths with regard to gloves with his presentation “‘Gloves for Protection Against Chemicals - When, Which and How?’ - The Myths”.
On Friday 13 October, the Exhibition of Health and Safety products and services will also be taking place. This will provide you with an opportunity to meet some of your existing suppliers or potential new ones and to find out about the latest safety products and services. That evening, it will be time to join NISO and NISG to celebrate with the winners of the All Ireland Safety Awards at the Post Conference Dinner which will be attended by the Minister for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection.
