Alert and sentinel systems detect new or emerging work-related diseases

Alert and sentinel systems allow the detection of new or emerging work-related diseases and are useful to complement the official figures of occupational diseases. They can help target workplace interventions and prevention.

A recently published report by EU-OSHA provides good practice examples and highlights the importance of better integrating workplace exposure assessment, improving the coverage of specific worker’s groups and diseases, and reaching the right actors to achieve the maximum benefit from these systems.
