EU Presidency Conference -“Working together to eliminate occupational cancer”
The ‘Working together to eliminate occupational cancer’ conference, held by the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the EU, is part of the ongoing Roadmap on Carcinogens initiative. The Roadmap gathers experts from the European Commission, social partners and national bodies involved in occupational health to raise awareness of carcinogenic substances, with delegates exchanging knowledge and good practice on reducing occupational exposure.
EU-OSHA participates in the conference’s plenary sessions, workshops and round-table discussions aimed at reflecting on the roadmap’s achievements and what remains to be done. Having co-founded the roadmap, EU-OSHA also explains how its work is crucial to fulfilling its objectives. For instance, its 2-year Healthy Workplaces Manage Dangerous Substances campaign has a particular focus on occupational exposure to carcinogens and it supports events to raise awareness of the roadmap and review its achievements.
The conference topics include:
- national and EU initiatives, including labour inspection campaigns
- the use of biomonitoring
- the links between REACH and OSH
- good practices
