Description

The publication provides an overview about possible occupational hazards in wood industry, including hazardous chemicals, and required safety measures for protection. The operations of the production process of timber and furniture processing expose workers to several hazardous substances, such as wood dust (in preparation, machining, assembly, among other operations) and organic solvents.

The brochure was produced under the European Campaign “Risk Assessment on the Use of Hazardous Substances” launched in 2010 by the CARIT - Committee of Senior Officials of the European Union Labor Inspectorate and coordinated in Portugal by the Labor Conditions Authority (ACT) under the motto "Hazardous Substances: Be aware, evaluate and protect".
