Practical tools to run an OSH campaign - Spreading the OSH message
In our mission to raise awareness of occupational safety and health (OSH) matters, we have run a variety of communication campaigns over the years, using a mix of different methods and communication techniques. This experience has shown us that a well-planned and targeted campaign can work wonders in changing how people think and act regarding health and safety at work.
We believe that any organisation, no matter the size, can run a campaign to publicise an OSH topic that affects them.
Although the prospect of creating and launching a campaign may sound like a daunting task, contrary to popular belief, communication needn’t be costly or complicated! Sometimes the simplest measures can increase awareness of workplace health and safety topics simply and effectively.
With this in mind, we decided to launch a new online campaign toolkit to support businesses and organisations of any size in creating their own OSH campaigns. Filled with recommendations and examples, the toolkit provides a step-by-step guide on how to plan and run successful OSH promotion campaigns. It is not a set of fixed rules but general advice that applies to all organisations involved in OSH, big and small.
Not only does the toolkit provide the necessary skills and advice to run effective communication actions, thanks to the input of many of our partners, it goes beyond theory to show practical examples of the communication tools in everyday use.
The toolkit gives recommendations on how to engage with your target audience through the clever delivery of messages and effective usage of campaigning tools. And from the examples and tips and tricks provided in the toolkit, users can pick and choose what tools they would like to include and learn how to adapt them to their individual circumstances.
Many of our partners have helped us to develop this toolkit, providing us with examples of campaigns and tools used for OSH campaigning. We hope to keep the toolkit regularly updated with new examples, and look forward to hearing about your own successful OSH communication campaigns.
