Ergonomic intervention tackles MSDs risks for nursery-school teachers and children
A case study commissioned by EU-OSHA sheds light on the risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in nursery-schools and explores the effects of an ergonomic intervention.
The project ErgoKita reviewed the current state of knowledge on musculoskeletal workloads in some nursery-school teachers in Germany. Prevention measures were identified and evaluated, starting with the delivery of ergonomically designed furniture for both adults and children. In addition, awareness raising actions and participatory approach achieved positive changes in teachers’ attitudes towards ergonomic behaviour.
This is an example of a good practice transferable to other day nurseries and other countries.
