In Germany, 20 million people suffer from over 100 different forms of rheumatism, such as chronic back pain, fibromyalgia and arthrosis or inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. Finding — and keeping — a job that works within the limitations imposed by rheumatoid arthritis can be a challenge for many people who live with the painful disease. Participation in working life is particularly important for people with rheumatism. Sometimes only small changes are necessary in order to help workers to remain in their job. This brooklet is aimed primarily at employers, workers representatives, occupational health physicians in order to give them a practical overview specifically on this topic.
In Deutschland leiden 20 Millionen Menschen an einer der über 100 verschiedenen Formen des Rheumas, wie zum Beispiel an chronischen Rückenleiden, Fibromyalgie und Arthrose oder entzündlichen Erkrankungen, wie der rheumatoiden Arthritis oder Morbus Bechterew. Ein großer Teil davon ist berufstätig oder in Ausbildung, und häufig drohen ihnen Erwerbsminderung und Arbeitsunfähigkeit, nicht zuletzt deshalb, weil betriebliche Förderungen zur Optimierung von Arbeitsbedingungen nicht in Anspruch genommen werden.
Die Teilhabe am beruflichen Leben ist gerade für rheumakranke Menschen von besonderer Bedeutung und es bedarf häufig nur kleiner Veränderungen in ihrem Arbeitsumfeld, damit auch hier Integration gelingt. Die vorliegende Broschüre wendet sich in erster Liniean Personalverantwortliche wie Arbeitgeber*innen, Personal und Betriebsräte, Frauenvertreterinnen und Betriebsärzte, um ihnen speziell zu diesem Thema einen praktischen Überblick zu geben.
