Environmental health criteria (EHC) monographs
English
Description
The environmental health criteria (EHC) monographs are based on a comprehensive search of the available original publications, scientific literature and reviews with the aim of examining the physical and chemical properties of substances and analytical methods; determining sources of environmental and industrial exposure and environmental transport, chemobiokinetics and metabolism, including absorption, distribution, transformation and elimination; short- and long-term effects on animals (carcinogenicity, mutagenicity and teratogenicity); and, finally, evaluating the risks to human health and the effects on the environment. EHC publications are monographs aimed at scientists and administrators responsible for the establishment of safety standards and regulations.
