EU-OSHA’s Healthy Workplaces for All Ages campaign reached its final milestone at the summit in Bilbao, Spain. A summary of the conference, recordings of all sessions, presentations, CVs and photos are now available.

Leading European occupational safety and health (OSH) experts gather today in Bilbao, Spain, for the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work’s (EU-OSHA’s) Healthy Workplaces Summit. This summit marks the end of the highly successful Healthy Workplaces for All Ages campaign, aimed at promoting a sustainable working life in the context of an ageing European workforce.
“Before the bridge” by Lewis Wilcox (USA) and “Turtle shells” by Tuna Kaptan (Germany) have been announced as the joint winners of the 2017 Healthy Workplaces Film Award for the best documentary related to work.
The joint winners of the best film on the subject of work are Lewis Wilcox for “Before the bridge” (USA) and Tuna Kaptan for “Turtle shells” (Germany). The awards were presented by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) at the 60th International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film (DOK Leipzig).
The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) kicks off the European Week for Safety and Health at Work today. Running until 27 October, the week allows businesses, occupational safety and health experts and workers to come together and exchange best practices on sustainable work and healthy ageing, as part of the ‘Healthy Workplaces for All Ages’ campaign.
During the European Week for Safety and Health at Work (23 – 27 October 2017) many partners of the ‘Healthy Workplaces for All Ages’ campaign join forces to promote sustainable work and healthy ageing. Taking into account that workers exit the labour market at the age of 61 on average – much younger than the average official retirement age (65) in the EU, safe and healthy workplaces for people of all ages is vital to sustaining Europe’s workforce. EU-OSHA’s national focal points, official campaign partners and campaign media partners all support the week with many activities.
The Healthy Workplaces Summit, marking the end of the 2016-2017 Healthy Workplaces for All Ages campaign, takes place on 21 and 22 November in Bilbao, Spain. Leading European experts and decision makers discuss the results of the 2-year campaign and exchange good practices in promoting healthy ageing at work.
At the same time, EU-OSHA and its partners celebrate two milestones: 20 years of Napo, our cartoon partner in promoting occupational safety and health, and 10 years of EU-OSHA’s campaign partnership scheme.
Brief summaries of the main findings of the 3-year project “Safer and healthier work at any age – occupational safety and health in the context of an ageing workforce” are now available in 19 languages.
The info sheets look at the benefits older workers bring to organisations, the added risks women encounter in the workplace, the systems for rehabilitation and return to work in place across Europe.
They also provide an overview of policies and strategies aimed at sustaining Europe’s ageing workforce.

The EU’s population and workforce are ageing. This has implications for employment, working conditions, living standards and welfare. How should we respond to these challenges? A new report, coordinated by EU-OSHA, shows how information from four agencies can support policy-making that is both complementary and greater than the sum of its parts. The report draws on the agencies’ expertise in each of their areas and covers the different challenges associated with the ageing workforce and considers innovative solutions.
In the run-up to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April, the Healthy Workplaces Good Practice Awards ceremony is held in Valletta, Malta. Organised by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), the awards showcase successful interventions by European organisations to make their workplaces safer and healthier for workers of all ages — and therefore more productive.
As part of EU-OSHA’s Healthy Workplaces for All Ages Campaign, the Good Practice Awards ceremony is co-hosted by the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU in Valletta on 26 April 2017. The awarded and commended examples of good practice show the benefits that can be achieved by organisations that recognise the potential for keeping employees healthy throughout their working careers.

Campaign partner SAP has received the award for the initiative ‘Run Your Health’ that empowers employees of all ages to take action for their health.
