Workshops with childcare workers to reduce musculoskeletal disorders
Keywords:Childcare workers are susceptible to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) because their work involves lifting, carrying, bending and squatting to assist children.
This case study looks at how participatory workshops for childcare workers can help them to identify, analyse and find solutions to MSD-related risks. Occupational safety and health advisors and a research team in Denmark co-developed a participatory ergonomics intervention project.
It involved organising and implementing a series of workshops for 96 childcare workers. Workshop participants were encouraged to prioritise risks, generate solutions and implement changes in the workplace.
