Accident prevention can significantly reduce injuries in the hotel, restaurant and catering (HORECA) sector. Both employers and employees are responsible for safety and health in the workplace. The main risks in the sector include: slips, trips and falls, cuts, burns, manual handing, noise, dangerous substances, heat and fire. This E-Fact offers advice on how accidents can be avoided. It concludes that most can be prevented by good management and supervision combined with effective employee training. For an employer, accident prevention is an integral part of running a successful enterprise.
