Controlling exposure to dangerous chemicals when treating surgical instruments

Keywords:

This case study looks at a hospital in Latvia that identified that its workers were experiencing unacceptable levels of exposure to ethylene oxide. To counteract this, one of the measures the hospital implemented was to build a separate building, where all dangerous chemicals are now kept in fireproof cabinets. All workers now also receive in-depth training on the safety requirements of the chemicals and how to use them correctly.
