UK - guidance for the prevention of Legionella risks during the coronavirus outbreak

The UK Health and safety authority has issued guidance for the prevention of risks when returning to work after lock down measures. When buildings were closed or had reduced occupancy during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, water system stagnation could occur due to lack of use, increasing the risks of Legionnaires’ disease.

Therefore, the workplace risk assessment should be revised to take this risk into account, in particular in hot and cold water systems, coooling towers and evaporative condensers and commercial spas and hot tubs, and appropriate measures taken.
