EU-OSHA, as part of a working group comprised of experts from EU / EFTA Member States and representatives of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), has developed practical guidelines on Oil Spill Responders.

The document covers all phases of oil spill responses: pre-operations planning, during operations and post-operations. EU-OSHA puts a particular emphasis on the first phase, since an organised, integrated, and rapid response is key during oil spill incidents.

Effective preparedness facilitates risk assessment and the organisation of necessary safety and health measures. The guidelines offer clear and valuable insights, based on the experience and guidance from several countries.
