Due Diligence for Healthy Workplaces in Tanneries
This one-day conference, part of the Due Diligence Social Dialogue Project, informs participants of the 2018-19 Healthy Workplaces campaign and provides information on the OiRA (Online interactive Risk Assessment) tool in the context of ensuring due diligence in the supply of leather and leather products to the EU market.
The morning session kicks off with introductions from representatives of 2 official campaign partners - Gustavo Gonzalez-Quijano, COTANCE and Sylvain Lefebvre, industriAll - and is followed by a presentation and Q&A session by Karla Van de Broek of Prevent on the updated OiRA Leather and Tanning tool.
The final morning session is dedicated to the Healthy Workplaces Manage Dangerous Substances campaign and the OiRA tool. Dr. Christa Sedlatschek, director of EU-OSHA presents the objectives of the campaign and highlights the success factors of OiRA and how the OiRA tool can help micro and small enterprises in the sector to carry out a risk assessment and to implement a prevention action plan.
Two panel sessions take place in the afternoon looking at: how to manage reputational risks for health and safety incidents in tanneries and how to ensure health and safety standards and tools for due diligence in the leather value chain. The OiRA tool should serve as an example of an instrument that can be used in the supply chain for communications.
