Description

The Interinstitutional Network on Occupational Health and Safety will present a joint programme for the Health and Safety Week 2024. Activities, workshops and conferences are being organised from 21 to 25 October in the European institutions and bodies premises and online. EU-OSHA will also be represented with a promotional stand located in the central atrium of the Justus Lipsius Building.

The programme starts with an interinstitutional conference on 22 October, in the presence of directors from participating EU bodies and institutions, including:

  • An opening speech by Mr. William Shapcott, Director-General of Organisational Development and Services of the General Secretariat of the Council

  • A presentation of the European framework and relevant European data by Mr. William Cockburn Salazar, Executive Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA)

  • A presentation by Professor Mariek Vanden Abeele, Ghent University and ERC grantee, on "Disconnect to Reconnect? The Science Behind Digital Well-being and Digital Disconnection"

  • And a panel exchange featuring:
    Ms Erika Landi, Director of HR Support and Social Services, European Parliament,
    Ms Sue Panter, Director – DG RH.D “Workplace and Wellbeing”, European Commission, 
    Mr Gilles Guillard, Director of Human Resources and Finance, European Economic and Social Committee,
    Ms Agnieszka Kudlińska, Director of Human Resources and Finance, European Committee of the Regions and
    Ms Eva Murciano, Director-General of Human Resources, European Central Bank.

The content of the conference is linked to EU-OSHA’s 'Safe and Healthy Work in the Digital Age' campaign 2023-25.

Key topics will include:

* The next generation of challenges in employee health and well-being
* The latest European data and insights on occupational health and safety
* The importance of the right to disconnect and digital well-being in the workplace
* Successful strategies and initiatives implemented by institutions across the region
