Description

An educational event is on the horizon for the teachers and students of the 1st Vocational Night High School of Athens. As a collaborative effort between the school's administration, the career guidance counsellor and our Greek National Focal Point Hellenic Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, this seminar aims to address the essential aspects of OSH, all with the help of Napo—a charming and effective OSH educational character—and, of course, with a smile.

A first presentation will introduce the foundational principles of safety and health at work, including  the importance of making OSH an integral part of education and vocational training, ensuring that students are well-prepared, with an understanding of how to protect themselves and others in their future work environments.

Another one will focus on the national OSH system and the relevant legislation that applies. Providing a comprehensive overview of different categories of workplace hazards and risks, it will also explain how a risk assessment is conducted. This will help attendees understand how to evaluate potential dangers in a workplace, which is particularly important for those entering industries where safety risks may be higher.

One of the seminar’s highlights will be a session dedicated to Napo, a character widely used to promote OSH messages in schools and workplaces across Europe. Attendees will be introduced to the Napo films and other training materials that illustrate safety concepts with humour and simplicity. Throughout the event, selected episodes will be shown to reinforce the key lessons and concepts through visual storytelling.

The Healthy Workplaces campaign "Safe and Healthy Work in the Digital Age" will be presented, addressing key priorities, including the prevention and management of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) associated with sedentary work, and the growing relevance of teleworking and e-learning.

The seminar will then explore the OiRA (Online Interactive Risk Assessment) tools, designed to help teachers and students understand the risks they may encounter in the workplace. This session will provide practical guidance on how these resources can be used to assess workplace risks effectively.

To conclude the seminar, demonstrations will show how to conduct a risk assessment using OiRA tools. By working through examples relevant to educational establishments and the vehicle repair sector, participants will gain hands-on experience that they can apply in real-world situations.
