Our new case study shows how a multinational car manufacturer has adapted EU-OSHA’s freely available Online interactive Risk Assessment — OiRA — platform for its own needs. The result? A highly individualised, cost-efficient solution for company-wide occupational safety and health risk assessment.

The approach allows worker involvement and the implementation of the tool globally, and is transferable to any large company looking to improve and standardise risk management.

On 12th of February EU-OSHA’s Executive Director, Dr Christa Sedlatschek, attends the International Conference Future of work. Challenges and opportunities for occupational health and safety. Dr Sedlatschek takes part in the panel discussion From research to action oriented policies. She will speak about emerging hazards related to chemical substances and how to tackle them and introduce EU-OSHA’s campaign on musculoskeletal disorders (2020 – 22).

This year EU-OSHA presents the Healthy Workplaces Film Award together with the Doclisboa documentary film festival in Lisbon, Portugal. Entries for submission of documentary films are now open. 

The Award honours the best documentary on a work-related topic with a €5,000 prize and subtitling in a selection of European languages.

In the last 20 years, the World Cancer Day on 4 February has grown into a powerful movement inspiring organisations, communities and individuals to increase awareness and take action for reducing the global impact of the disease.

Work-related cancer remains the biggest occupational health challenge in Europe. 120,000 cancer cases occur annually because of exposure to carcinogens at work.

The ever-changing world of work brings new risks for workers’ safety and health, and we need to communicate and share good practices between companies and Member States reaching out to businesses, hubs and local factories. In a video message to EU-OSHA, the European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, acknowledges the Agency’s contribution in empowering companies with online risk assessment tools, and helping the European Commission to anticipate new and emerging risks.
