EU-OSHA is a success story, says the EU Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights
The ever-changing world of work brings new risks for workers’ safety and health, and we need to communicate and share good practices between companies and Member States reaching out to businesses, hubs and local factories. In a video message to EU-OSHA, the European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, acknowledges the Agency’s contribution in empowering companies with online risk assessment tools, and helping the European Commission to anticipate new and emerging risks. He also highlights the efficiency of our focal point network in disseminating knowledge and promoting occupational safety and health at national level.
The Agency needs to be at the forefront of action to raise awareness on tomorrow’s challenges for Europe’s workplaces, such as the effects of digitalisation, ageing workers and new forms of work, Mr Schmit concludes.
EU-OSHA welcomes Mr Schmit as he takes up his new mandate as Europe’s standard bearer for OSH and very much appreciates his kind recognition of our work over the last 25 years.
