Discover a new study on early warning systems for work-related diseases
Alert and sentinel systems can offer early warning about new and emerging risks and work-related diseases to occupational safety and health actors and policy-makers. The report analyses in depth a range of successful alert and sentinel approaches both in and outside the EU.
It considers how these approaches can be replicated in other countries or how an alert function could be added to existing monitoring systems. It also concludes that it is vital to communicate better on the contribution of alert and sentinel systems to evidence-based prevention and policy, to maintain the motivation of people who report to the systems and to provide enough political support and financial resources, and to encourage international cooperation and the sharing of data in the EU.
