Description
The e-fact outlines core risk factors for maintenance workers in food and drink manufacturing, including biological and chemical ones.
Food and drink manufacturing comprises many different industries, ranging from fruit and vegetable processing, bakeries, grain milling and dairy processing to sugar refineries and slaughterhouses. Beverage manufacturing includes beer, wine and spirit production as well as soft drink and mineral water production. Although food and beverages are processed in a strictly controlled environment to ensure a high standard of hygiene and safe food production, it is not at all a ‘low risk’ sector in terms of the safety and health of workers.
