Description

In response to the official classification of formaldehyde as a category 1B carcinogen, a company in Slovenia that used the substance in manufacturing insulation products set out to assess the current situation and introduce preventive measures to improve workers’ safety and health. This good practice example details how the company, primarily by substituting resins with formaldehyde content low enough that they were not classified as carcinogenic, was able to significantly reduce exposure levels. The substitution had other good effects, resulting in a higher quality product and lower environmental impact.
