Leaflet on dry cleaners and cleaners produced under the European Campaign Risk Assessment on the Use of Hazardous Substances, launched in 2010 by the CARIT - Committee of Senior Officials of Labor Inspection of the European Union and coordinated in Portugal by the Labor Conditions Authority (ACT) under the motto "Hazardous Substances: Be aware, evaluate and protect".
In the current leaflet information on the risks of exposure to hazardous substances in dry cleaning laundries and other cleaning operations (e.g. household cleaning) is presented. In cleaning operations, workers may be exposed to several hazardous substances. Some of them have a high risk, as is the case of an organic solvent, perchloroethylene, which can enter the human body by inhaling its vapors and by direct contact with the skin.
