The aim of the guide is to assist in the systematic identification of occupational hazards in dentistry and to highlight protective and preventative measures that might be adopted in order to mitigate the risks posed to workers to as low a level as reasonably practicable. Among other hazards, the guide gives an overview of chemicals used in dentistry: anaesthetic gases,  amalgam, acrylate and its compounds, latex.
