Description

The poster provides warning messages on the dangers posed by asbestos still present in European buildings. It calls the EU to act.
Every year asbestos kills around 100,000 people — and will continue to do so over the coming decades. Europe has banned asbestos — but millions of tonnes are still present. This must be removed safely! Asbestos is found everywhere — in public and private buildings, on ships and on public transport. The safe removal of all sources of asbestos has to be a European priority. Europe must act — now! The asbestos problem must not be passed on to the next generation!
The European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW) initiated the European Asbestos Campaign. The campaign aims to do away with all asbestos still existing in Europe. Even though in Europe there is a general ban on producing, importing and manufacturing asbestos and asbestos-containing products, this deadly substance is still present in public and private buildings, in public transportation systems and in everyday products.
