Welcome
Here you can catch up with the latest health and safety developments in Sweden, and take a look at some "best practices" showing how different undertakings have solved their work environment problems.
The Swedish Government has appointed the Swedish Work Environment Authority to serve as Sweden’s "Focal Point" for contacts with the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, Bilbao, Spain. You can read more about the members of the Swedish network under the heading Systems.
The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work
The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work is a network which aims to make Europe’s workplaces safer, healthier and more productive.
The Agency is a tripartite European Union organisation that brings together representatives from governments, employers and workers’ organisations in each of the European Union’s 15 Member States. Focal Points have also been set up in the EFTA countries and in the 13 candidate countries to the EU. The Agency is based in Bilbao, Spain.
Focal points
The Agency’s principal safety and health information network is made up of a "Focal Point" in each EU Member State, in the four EFTA countries and in the 13 Candidate countries (CC's) to the European Union. A Focal Point is normally the competent national authority for safety and health at work, and is nominated by each government as the Agency's official representative in the country concerned.
The Focal Points play a key role within the Agency. They are responsible for the organisation and co-ordination of the national networks and are involved in the preparation and implementation of the Agency's Work Programme.
Like the other elements of the Agency structure, the national networks are tripartite and include governmental representatives together with workers’ and employers’ groups. The role of the Focal Points is to provide information and feedback to Agency initiatives and products.
