Accommodations and self-managing osteoporosis for a university lecturer

Keywords:
After being diagnosed 6 years ago with osteoporosis — a condition that tends to worsen over time — a female senior lecturer continues to work full-time, carrying out numerous roles within the university where she works.

This case study looks at the crucial role that early diagnosis and intervention played in helping her to remain in work. Having access to appropriate advice and information has helped the lecturer to successfully manage her own condition by increasing her physical activity — for example taking up Pilates and walking more — and taking control of the amount of time she spends at a computer each day.
