Health and safety professionals
What you can do to keep young people safe.
18-25-year-olds are at particular risk in the workplace, having higher non-fatal accident rates than their older colleagues.
Member State legislation throughout the EU also puts extra restrictions on the risks that under-18s can be exposed to.
How should we approach these issues?
Experience tells us that a two-pronged approach is needed:
- ensuring that jobs are safe for young people - that they are given appropriate work, protection, training and supervision
- integrating or 'mainstreaming' health and safety education in schools, colleges and universities.
On this site, you will find a range of materials, whether your interest is:
- research and statistics
- risk assessment and prevention
- training and awareness-raising
- health and safety education in schools, colleges or universities.
