CINEMA EVENTS: "EUROPE, A PLACE TO WORK IN DIGNITY”

Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, EU-OSHA together with the Spanish representation of the European Parliament and the European Commission organises a series of cinema events in 10 Spanish cities. Under the motto ‘Europe, a place to work in dignity’ several films relating to occupational safety and health topics will be shown free of charge.

This initiative contributes to the objectives of the New Community Strategy 2007–2012 relating to occupational safety and health: a continuous and sustainable reduction in fatal accidents at work and occupational diseases. The objective is to cut by 25% the total incidence rate of accidents at work per 100 000 workers in the EU27.

Six European cinema festival award winners will be shown during the course. In addition, the short film “Il gioco della vita” (“The game of life”) will be featured, winner of the European Young Film Maker of the Year 2006 video competition, organised within the frame of EU-OSHA’s ‘Safe Start’ campaign on Young Workers.

The following titles will be shown: “The Navigators”, “Sleeping Luck”, “Dancer in the Dark”, “Breaking the Waves”, “Human Resources”, and “Time Out”.
