The new online information portal is operated by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work and is based on the most advanced Internet technology.

“Our new website is the first global portal to occupational safety and health information for people involved in risk prevention at work", said Hans-Horst Konkolewsky, Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work in his address to the World Congress on Health and Safety at Work in Orlando. "Today's global economy requires global cooperation. We expect the joint website to facilitate exchange of know-how between OSH experts and practitioners from around the world and to provide a new global platform for prevention", added Konkolewsky.

The Agency's online information network covers not only European countries but also health and safety organisations from USA, Canada, Australia, Korea and Japan. It has been designed to offer the best possible support to a growing number of workplaces that are concerned about safety and health and need practical information to address their risks. The website is available at http://osha.europa.eu .

The European Agency also held a special session on Health and Safety at Work – the European Way. The session brought together leading policy makers, social partners and experts from Europe's OSH community to present the latest trends in prevention, ranging from the most recent policy initiatives of the European Commission, to innovative agreements at sector level in the Netherlands and worker participation action in Germany. "Health and safety at work has always been a key social policy area for the European Union. By bringing our combined experiences to the World Congress in Orlando, we hope to contribute to sustainable improvements in work safety and health across the globe", concluded Hans-Horst Konkolewsky.
