Cold Sandwich by Paweł Ruda (Youth Prize)

The photograph was taken in August 2011. Due to a lack of models, not only did I have to take on the role of the photographer but also pose as the doctor. The self-timer was used to release the shutter. The idea for this photograph came from my experience from chemistry laboratories, where people often break the rules of safe work. I thought that this way of behaving might not be characteristic only of chemists but, on the contrary, it is widely observed in places such as the one in the photograph. It is said that photos should stir emotions in the viewers’ minds, which is why I chose a scene that looks like an autopsy.
