Solving the enigma, by Vladica Adamov (Commended)

This photo “Solving the enigma” is my self-portrait and was taken in a laboratory for veterinary microbiology. It shows the reflection of me in bacteriology colouring tube which I was painting for some samples of organic materials. In a next few days I isolated Bacillus anthracis, a pathogen that can cause serious disease and death in humans! This photo sends a message to all my colleagues who work in similar jobs: If you protect yourself you will protect the people around you! Prevention must be the first thing on your mind when you work with biohazardous material, and only through prevention can we protect people from accidents!
