In Slovenia, safety and health at work falls within the competence of the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Health. These two ministries monitor and assess the situation in the aforementioned area and on this basis draw up regulations and solutions for the standardised regulation of safety and health at work. Control over the implementation of regulations in this area falls within the competence of the Slovenian Labour Inspectorate.
Operating under the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs, which performs the duties of the EU-OSHA national focal point, is a national network involving the cooperation of government representatives, representatives of unions and employers' organisations, experts and researchers in the area of safety and health at work and occupational medicine. The national network is involved especially in promoting a safety culture and spreading information about issues of ensuring safety and health at work.
