Senior Labour Inspectors' Committee meeting in Hungary (13.07.2011)

The Senior Labour Inspectors’ Committee – SLIC two day long meeting is organized every half a year in the given country providing the presidency of the EU.

Senior Labour Inspectors’ Committee was established in 1995 to give its opinion to the Commission, either at the Commission’s request or on its own initiative, on all problems relating to the enforcement by the Member States of Community law on health and safety at work. The SLIC is composed of the general directors of the labour inspectorates of each Member State.

Around 50 foreign participants were involved in the event representing the national inspectorates of the European Union, the European Commission, the candidate countries, the EFTA member states and several international organizations among of others the International Labour Organization (ILO), European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), European Network Education and Training in Occupational Safety and Health (ENETOSH).

European Good Practice Awards 2010-2011 (12.07.2011)

The Hungarian Presidency of the European Union hosted the 10 th European Good Practice Awards ceremony. The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) recognised and rewarded the outstanding contribution to safe maintenance made by eight organisations and companies from across Europe. Part of EU-OSHA’s Healthy Workplaces Campaign on Safe Maintenance, the awards were presented in Budapest on 28th April 2011 on the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

Entries were received from organisations of all sized, and from a wide variety of industrial sectors, keen to demonstrate and share their good practice examples. The new booklet published at the same time presents case studies on good practices of the eight award winners and the fifteen commended organizations.

The EU-OSHA started a case study collection on good leadership in OSH in January conducted by the Topic Centre. (09.02.2010)

The purpose is to find case studies that demonstrate how strong commitment from the management to OSH can lead to a reduction in sickness absence, a decrease in work related accidents and incidents and an enhancement of productivity. Case studies demonstrating good OSH leadership should at a minimum fulfil the following requirements:
