CAN - Workplace exposure to chemicals and dusts - Results of the chemical analyses produced at the IRSST for 2001-2008 14.12.2011

Organizations in the Québec prevention network are regularly involved in companies in order to collect samples by which the IRSST’s laboratories can evaluate the air quality. The results of these analyses, for the years 2001 to 2008, have been published annually, and the reports produced have identified several situations of high potential concentrations in the large industrial groups.

The present report contains all the environmental analysis results issued by the institute’s laboratories for this entire period. Due to the large volume of results (359,120), the authors processed the data in such a way as to produce a detailed picture of the concentrations of pollutants by specifying the industrial classes. This procedure led to a more precise reading of the analytical results and therefore a clearer view of the evaluated exposure situations where the chemical substances considered individually are found at considerable concentrations. The results are presented according to the industrial classes of the Classification des activités économiques du Québec (CAEQ, classification of economic activities of Québec), by CSST priority sector and by substance. This report provides researchers and preventionists with information that can support new research orientations and help prioritize certain interventions.
