Health and Safety Coordination in the construction Industry
92/57/CEE directive related to minimum health and safety measures on temporary or mobile sites was issued 15 years ago and has been implemented in Spain for 10 years by means of RD 1627/1997.
This legislation created a new professional function within the construction process: Health and Safety Coordinator in the design and execution phases of the construction projects. Over all these years, most of the European Union (EU) countries have made different interpretations of this directive and the professional function of Health and Safety Coordinator.
At the same time, legal action has been taken in many EU countries, with diverging results, even within the same member state, referring to interpreting duties and therefore, this professional function’s administrative, civil or penal responsibilities. During this period of time, prevention systems have also been improved, new safety devices have been developed and many best practices have been applied, which must be disseminated.
Conference Objectives:
- To analyse the state of the art of the health and safety coordination, its functions, duties and responsibilities
- To know and share the research and innovation, as well as best practices in matters relating to health and safety coordination in construction.
- To learn about, compare and analyse the practical and/or legal requirements for the free movement of coordinators within the EU.
