The European week 2007 will be launched at the FPS Employment, Labour and Social Consultation on the 22nd October, 2007 with the event "Lighten the Load - How to prevent Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD’s)"?

Across Europe one in four workers is reported suffering from musculoskeletal disorders (MSD’s), causing physical pain and loss of income. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD’s) cause a tremendous loss of wellbeing and life quality for the workers involved. The cost to the individual companies and to the national economy as a whole, is equally high.

This is why the European Safety and Health Agency has decided to tackle MSD prevention in this year’s campaign. The European Week, organised this year from the 22nd till the 26th October 2007, will be launched with a symposium in Brussels (Belgium).

Various speakers will give a state of affairs on the tools ant methods of primary and secondary prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD’s). The list of speakers is available in the leaflet “European Week 2007 Launching symposium – “Lighten the load!” How to prevent Musculoskeletal Disorders?

The focus will also be on rehabilitation and reintegration of workers complaining from backache.
