ILO Conference on Decent Work
Making Decent Work a Global Goal and a National Reality
In collaboration with other organisations, the ILO will hold an international conference on Making Decent Work a Global Goal and a National Reality during the largest safety and health exhibition in the world at Messe Düsseldorf in Germany.
From 18-20 September 2007, the conference will highlight the challenges of strengthening labour inspection systems, strategies and practices within the context of the Decent Work agenda and Decent Work Country Programmes in particular. The conference will specifically focus on prevention and social security and using the supply chain to improve standards, with particular reference to safety and health for airport staff. Other key themes include the reform of labour inspection systems and issues of good governance and ways for advancing the concept of Decent Work at international, national and enterprise levels.
High-ranking officials from governments, social partners and international organisations will also take part in a round table discussion at the end of the conference to deliberate further on issues raised during the proceedings.
