Lighten the load – Certificate of participation

Tell us what you did during the European campaign on musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), download your own personalised Certificate of Participation, and automatically enter a prize draw to win a free trip to the Basque Region of Spain for two people.

The European campaign on musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) is an opportunity to participate in the Lighten the load campaign to reduce the number of work-related MSDs and to make workplaces safer and healthier.

You can support the campaign by taking part in the European Week, 22-26 October 2007 and have your efforts recognised by means of a certificate of participation.

Run by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, and its network partners, Lighten the load seeks to involve employers, workers, safety representatives, practitioners, preventive services, policy makers and other stakeholders in improving MSD prevention at workplace level.

The 2007 European campaign seeks to promote an integrated management approach to tackle MSDs embracing prevention of MSDs, and the retention, rehabilitation and reintegration of workers who already suffer from MSDs.

Everyone is invited to join in, however big or small their participation may be. Here are just a few ideas and some actual examples of what individuals and organisations have done; more examples are published on the Agency’s website.

  • Risk assessments
  • Safety demonstrations displays and exhibitions
  • Training events, seminars and workshops
  • Poster competitions and quizzes
  • Film, video and multimedia
  • Advertising and promotion campaigns
  • Partnerships between enterprises and schools/colleges/training centres
  • Good neighbour schemes between large and small employers
  • Suggestion schemes
  • Hazard spotting
  • Inspection days
  • Press conferences and media activities
  • Building risk awareness and prevention into other activities

These are just some examples - you are welcome to use your own creativity in thinking up other initiatives.
