‘Design a Safety Poster’ 31.10.2005

— filed under:

The Council launched a countywide "Design a Safety Poster" competition which attracted 560 entries. There were four prizes, one of which was won by an 88-year old, which proves you´re never too old to think about safety!

The winning posters were made into a calendar that was distributed to all departments to keep safety on everyone’s minds throughout the year. The programme included workstation assessments and safety inspection blitzes, and a Health and Safety Awareness Day at a school, which attracted more than 300 people. Later in the Week, at a different school, a similar but larger-scale day included local Fire and Rescue Services as well as local police.

"UNI-Europa Youth organises young workers up to the age of 35 from 350 unions throughout Europe, and sees its main role in addressing problems that young workers face on the labour market, and advancing the position of young workers. Young people are the future of the labour market; health and safety standards are a focal point for our members and us. Therefore UNI-Europa fully supports the Safe Start Campaign; it brings together the issues that form the basis of a working social Europe."
