An electrical contractor gave schoolchildren the opportunity to visit a construction site to learn about the dangers of using them as playgrounds.

All employees were put through a written construction-related quiz and a safety course called ‘Working safely in the electrotechnical industry’ was developed as well as a cartoon-style brochure to reiterate the dangers of construction sites.

"European Weeks have turned into a real trademark. In Austria much is being done. Seventeen labour inspectorates realised projects with partner schools, and the outcomes will be presented in October during a conference in Vienna. We also issued a special ‘Safe Start’ postage stamp on the day of the launch.
I am convinced that this European Week will contribute to a further improvement of health and safety at work, and I wish everyone great success."
