Health and safety featured heavily in the curriculum of the College during the Week with a packed timetable covering a range of subjects from Monday to Friday.

Topics included health and safety signs, fire awareness, healthy eating, work-related asthmas and dermatitis, plus stress awareness. The college offered a one-day ‘Emergency First Aid’ course to a local primary school as their contribution to the Good Neighbour Scheme.

President of FIEC
"Health and Safety has been high on the agenda of the construction industry for a very a long time. It is everyone's responsibility to avoid accidents on construction sites, which typically range from falls from heights to the unsafe handling of dangerous substances. FIEC re-confirms its long-standing and ongoing determination to contribute to a continuous real improvement in the sector's health and safety record among young construction workers. This will have a leverage effect on all construction site workers."

Wilhelm Küchler, President of FIEC
